Conflict Minerals Policy

View Conflict Minerals Report

Economic activities often have a global effect, and as player in the international economy, Control4 is committed to maintaining high ethical and moral standards.

Several minerals, including tin, tantalum, tungsten, and gold (3TG), mined from the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and adjoining countries, have been found to fund and promote human rights violation and actions of violence, and are referred to as “conflict minerals.” Control4 is opposed to such atrocities and is committed to work to discourage the use of any of these conflict minerals in our products. Control4 does not directly purchase or source the raw metals used in our products. For this reason, tracing the minerals in our supply chain is a complex process. We do not have complete visibility into the sources of all component minerals. However, we have implemented and continue to refine due diligence processes to determine whether the materials provided by our suppliers contain conflict minerals, and we engage with our suppliers to promote responsible sourcing practices and to promote the use of conflict-free minerals in our supply chain.

To accomplish this goal Control4 will:

  1. Comply with the conflict minerals reporting rules adopted under the Dodd-Frank Act.
  2. Include provisions in our supplier and manufacturing agreements requiring that each supplier/manufacturer comply with all applicable conflict mineral laws.
  3. On an annual basis, request that that all suppliers and manufactures of Control4 products provide to Control4 a report on the Conflict Minerals Reporting Template developed by Electronic Industry Citizenship Coalition (EICC) and the Global e-Sustainability Initiative (GeSI) containing the following information:
    1. A declaration of whether or not 3TG is used in manufacturing Control4 Products
    2. The identity of the sources of such materials
    3. Documentation supporting the above information
    4. Any other information that Control4 may deem necessary
  4. If a supplier/manufacture is found to be using conflict minerals, Control4 will work to encourage them find new sources for the minerals and ensure that they make deliberate progress towards sourcing only conflict-free minerals.
  5. If a supplier/manufacturer is unable to provide the original source of possible conflict materials, Control4 will work closely with the supplier/manufacturer to ensure additional due diligence is conducted.
  6. If any supplier/manufacturer refuses to provide requested information, or help Control4 in its efforts to comply with the Dodd-Frank Act, Control4 may impose sanctions on such company including restricting or terminating future business dealings with the supplier/manufacturer. As a leading provider of personalized automation and control solutions, Control4 will continue to strive to promote protection of fundamental human rights in the sourcing of raw materials for its products.
